Brew Swet goes to Vegas

After a long planning process, some cancellations, a few quick adjustments, and a whole lotta b/s, Brew Swet finally made its way to the best desert mirage in the country, Las Vegas. Of course, as far as lodging is concerned, only the best would do, so we scrounged up some money and booked that two bedroom room in the highly regarded motel 6 on the south end of the strip. With the gas paid for, and the hotel room squared away, we hit the road and blasted our way to Nevada.

As far as the saying goes, what happens in Vegas, does stay in Vegas...

But the pictures follow.

Our first stop was Skate Warehouse to pick up the necessary supplies.

Along with Shane's Creature came this garter... a perfect tool for a trip to Vegas.
Shane asked about 25 minutes into the drive how much longer we had. Then again another hour later.
Gettin' there.
Good old Carls left its mark on us, but not before we left our mark on them.
Once we reached our Motel 6 resort, we picked up some ice, and got to doin what we do best.
The homie Jordan met up with us, and the crew got Swetty.
Pissin' me off.

Diablo found his Cantina.
Nick, the self-proclaimed "never gambler" Put a dollar in, bet a nickel, and quickly cashed out with this winner.
At this point in the trip, I split from the crew. My parents were in Vegas and it had been a while since I'd seen them, so I peaced out, left the homies with the automobile, and went to chill with my folks. They took the car and went with tour-guide Nick to some local spots.
Claimy found the finer things Vegas has to offer.
Blair apologized to the big guy afterwards.
This park was full of weird tranny. Our first night, about 20 minutes after arriving, Nick and I 5-0'd into one another, and Nick split his finger. Can't believe I won that one.
Blair- Smithing through one of the many smooth ditches Vegas has to offer.

Shane was on the hunt for some rails, and found a front board here.

Shane got gnarly here to with this big ollie, unfortunately a cracked board and some surely sore feet caused him to leave empty handed.

Well... not too empty-handed

This might be my favorite photo of the whole trip. This dude looks bummed.
Shane puttin' that garter to use on the homie's three mile walk to Treasure Island.
Where they found me, shmoozing the drink lady, who was tryin to hook me up with her daughter.
Made a quick booty call, and headed to the Double-Down for some music and some drink.

Shut up and drink.
The next morning found everyone pretty haggard. Example number one...

We decided a good meal would do us right, so we figured we couldn't go wrong at Denny's. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. Our meal took 45 minutes to get there, and when it came it was all half-cooked and my meal was completely missing. I'm not one to complain about service ever, but this was by far the worst service I have ever had in my entire life. We wound up paying half our bill and leaving.

These dudes were tight though.
This guy was publicly fucking his tire.
Nick knew of a wallride over a cement tube, so we checked it out.
Wallride...
No comply wallride...
Claimy getting bummed on filming.
Nick came super close to this kickflip wallride... but left with a grudge.
Ollie into the Wall
This massive bank was our last spot. Blair mustered up the courage to get down, putting his face and his body on the line if he didn't make it. But he diiiiiiid.

Y?
So our last leg of our trip found us with the 166 flooded, and the 58 closed for snow. Luckily we waited for TWO HOURS and the road was cleared. One of the gnarliest drives I've made, half asleep, icy roads, and semis boxing you in the whole time. Rad.
Needless to say, we made it home alright. Nick had work an hour after we got in, and the rest of the guys had drives home to make, the following day. I slept til 5:45 the next day. The trip was insane, ridiculous, and absurd. The crew was rad, and times were good, and the brew was cold. Until next time Vegas...

Ambission lends a hand...

I wanted to take the time to give a shout out to both Dylan and Dustin, for coming to Cal Poly last Tuesday. It was rad of them to come all the way up from San Diego to tell their story and answer all the questions the Cal Poly Entrepreneurs had to ask them. Thanks a lot guys. Way to be RAD! Keep that authenticity you talked about, and we'll see you guys again soon.

HOMIE-CAM OR NOT SO TRANSWORLD

Here at BS we are constantly working to get content on the site.  The efforts are great..........but not good enough.  We have some contributors that refuse to post any video content because its getting used for the "video", and quite frankly it would be easier to get a date with Lindsay Lohan than get footage from this contributor.   blah fuckin blah.  That being said, i am going to be issuing as many homie-cam clips and drunken non vx1000 shots as possible.  Here is round 1 of those clips.  shitty as fuck but for the followers of this blog, i think it will do the trick!  Im not tryin to be legit and all that crap, we're just having fun doin our thing.  The good shit will be out before you can say PREPARE TO BE BUMMED.

WHEN IT RAINS, WE SHRED

Rain always seems to come on the weekends these day, which for most is just plain fucked.  You end up stuck in the house playing with yourself or doing some useless bullshit.  Well not this time.  Some fellow BS-ers and I went out for a little shreddin last Sat and had a hell of a time.  First we were forced to head up to the only indoor park between SF and LA basically, which I can safely say eats 2 bowls of dicks.  Long story short, $$ to skate for about an hour only to have 500 little kids contemplate whether or not to drop in, and the park owners/managers put cones in front of the euro to install a 50"+ TV in the middle of the park. FUCKIN GENIUS!  why didn't i think to put a tv in a skate park.  At lease my $5 went to a good cause.  Anyway, after that we took the not so little guy (Ty) home, had a brew with the folks and headed back to Niday's for some pool and consumption of the finest beverage on earth.
There was some talk of this little garage mini-ramp the other day and i figured id never see it.  I was wrong.  We rounded up the packs and set off to get some at this little guy.

It was one of those ramps that you could drink a lot of beer and still function until slowly you became more intoxicated and fall off of a rock fakie.  Tyler Niday (hope the spelling is right) was killing it with the disasters all up in the roof.  must have been the sabbath in the air.  this bromie-cam shot shows how little this thing is, or what a big dude Niday is, take your pick.
Barechested half-time every 10 minutes or so.  It was hot as fuck in there.
dicks will follow you everywhere.  there is no escape dont even try, especially if your shanes face.
 Standard issue
the take off.  no drop ins here.

Its almost like the famous "CASH" pic............except its "SWET".
................Til next time.  BREW FUCKIN SWET!

ROB "SALAD BAR" SALAZAR JOINS THE RAD DAD TEAM!

Just wanted to give a shout to BS's newest rad dad and his new baby boy Andrew Anthony Salazar.  After some complications with this little guy, he was finally able to make it home happy and healthy with his mom & pop.  Rob has been one of my longest running homies, hittin the 15 year mark.  Through the good, the bad, the ugly, countless skate trips, shootin photos, and even takin me to my first bar at 15, whatever.......this guy fuckin rules and is always down for anything and everything.  Thanks for everything over the years and a huge congrats goes out to Rob and the new family...........i think we have a future Brew Swettin' shredder.

Unexpected Excellence

Most people know that along with school comes both good and bad. Shit-tons of homework and other bullshit tend to fall into the bad category. Occasionally though, you'll get the opportunity to do something awesome, that otherwise, you'd never have known about. Two weeks ago I was in a meeting with my professor for my senior project class. We tend to talk about things that don't really apply to anything, and that day, we stumbled upon the topic of music. I mentioned bluegrass, and it sparked his interest. He asked me if I knew of a band called the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band. I told him I didn't and he quickly pulled up a you tube vid. I was instantly hyped.

I had no idea where he was going with this, but was on the hook to find out. He explained that he had two tickets that he and his wife weren't going to be able to use. He then offered them to me. Without hesitation I said yes, and the experience was amazing.

Peter Rowan, an Old and In the Way veteran, played alongside Jody Stetcher on mandolin, Keith Little on banjo, and Paul Knight, on the stand-up base. The guys killed it. During their show, they mentioned that the Clark Center happened to be one of the best acoustic rooms they'd ever played in, and this proved to be true. The sound was incredible. Peter Rowan cracked jokes between songs, getting the crowd involved, and making them feel like a part of the show. Stecher killed it on mandolin, even incorporating what looked like a pvc slide into the music, twanging the sound of his strings throughout the venue. Keith Little, had a composure like no other, often battling Stecher in improvised solos. And the glue who held it all together, Paul Knight, kept feet steady tappin' and the baseline firmly driving. An amazing experience to say the least. Thanks prof.

Legends of New

Justin Martinez -
Frontside 5-0
Adult School

I live with this dude, and he still blows my mind. Every time we go skate, he continues to astonish me. A mellow style, seemingly never breaking a sweat. Simply calm, cool, and collected. A real stand up guy too. I've seen the footage piling up for his part in the Brew Swet video. Prepare to Bummed everyone, because you can't skate like him!

Ty Hjortland -
Ollie up to Smith
Cayucos Ramp

In the old times, you'd hear of warriors who were huge in size, who killed scores of men, singlehandedly. Who were created by the hands of the gods themselves and whom no one can touch. And then everyone sees this man of legend and come to find out, he's not so big. You know the story. Everybody's heard at least one. Like Achilles, for example. So anyways, you hear about this dude who is killing it, I mean shredding everything in his path. Kickin' asses and takin' names. Then you show up to see the real deal, expecting a dude with a gnarly beard, dirty clothes, smokin' cigs and drinking beers. Come to find out... he's 15, and no bigger than your little brother. Which is really the best part about it. With time on his side, and a style lookin' like he's already spent his 9 lives, Ty's really got it. Keep an eye out for his part in the upcoming Brew Swet video too, as I'm sure he'll have you evaluating your life in the tranny game.
