They say the only thing constant is change, so lets switch it up again, good times will surely follow. To all the hombres out here, you will be missed. To my boys back in SLO, hope you're ready to party!

...The Last Tastes of Summer

Mondays are the start of the week, and for most people they generally a drag. The exact opposite has been true for me, well it does start the week obviously, but here in Georgia... Matt, Geronimo and I, genuinely look forward to Mondays.

This particular Monday, Labor Day, was the beginning of the end for me here in Georgia, so we decided to do what we've done best all summer, pack the car up and go. Geronimo called me around 5 o'clock, for what, I don't exactly know haha, because we weren't leaving 'til 7. So i slept for a little while longer, and an hour behind schedule, at 8 o'clock, we took off for Chatanooga, Tennessee.
Chatanooga is loaded with spots, and they we're extremely easy to find. Just drive around and find
one ledge spot, talk to a local drunken bicycle rider who will tell you to do a willy grind on the white marble ledge and then tell you about how you don't skate like "they used to", and poof you're there.

We just kept doing the same thing, skating around and coming across weird wedge bank things and stair sets and more banks...

As we we're driving by, we spotted a long brick bank. At first glace it looked like a bust of an idea, but as we scoped it out, it turned out to be the contrary. I hopped over a few times and came away with an ollie as a souvenir.

We skated across the street to a closed library and skated there for a little while. I was going to try and ollie over this fountain gap but pussed out for sake of a dry board. Matt even got in the water for me to save my board from danger. Still, I opted out. Its cool though, he just borrowed a towel from a bum's stash and cleaned himself right up. After that appetizing display he popped a few half cabs up the three stair we we're messing around on. I had been watching through the reflection in the window, it looked rad, so I snapped a photo. After, it was on to Sweeny's for some good 'ol Tennesee BBQ. We ate some pulled pork and grubbed on some fried pickles... good shit.

At Sweeny's we ended up eating our meal right in front of a painting with the first spot we skated on it. I found it ironic, so I figured I'd shoot a photo for memory's sake. Its the little wallride near the guard rail.

From there we hopped back in the car to go to Nashville, but only after we stopped at the national tow truck and rescue museum. Epic. We headed out to Nashville, and skated around for a little while. The spots were all quick busts except for yet another bank spot. While we
skated the spot, some guys drove throwing up the shaka and we asked them where the spots were. He pointed us in the direction we had just been cast out of, so we asked about the skatepark. I didn't take any pictures personally but you can check the park out at www.concretedisciples.com. They said helmets would be necessary, but no one had them on when we got there, despite a park officer being curbside nearby.
To close our epic night, we headed back to downtown Nashville for some brews and live music. As our head was filled with country music, we checked out the babes, drank and listened. I ordered a Yazoo, Dos Perros, a beer brewed in Nashville, that turned out to be pretty damn good. We finished up there and packed in for the 4 hours home. Rolling in around 2, I looked back on the summer passed, its been real and I've walked and skated in more new places than I would ever have imagined. Thanks to the homies that shared that last hoorah with me. Matt, Geronimo, and Garrett, you guys are dope.

A Days Events

Its always nice when the day takes a turn for the worst, but winds up being better than expected. Being bailed on for the second time for the high museum (different girls), I figured it'd be wiser to invite someone more reliable... a homie. So me and Geronimo cruised it out to Atlanta to check out some seriously surreal work by Salvador Dali.
This photograph was a true work of art. Skull formed by some naked chicks. Genious.
This painting is bigger than you can imagine. Around 1o feet tall, it leaves you dwarfed and Dali even more so as he sleeps in the bottom center.

After getting our fill of a genious' dreamland, we skated a ledge over some dirt right across the street from the high at the Marta station. No photos or clips, but a grayed old black dude bitched at us for 20 minutes, after I politely asked him to move his car from in front of the ledge to any of the hundreds of feet of curb space without a ledge being skated in front of it. He, in turn, pulled a jack out of his trunk which he threatened to club me with, but after he realized he was dealing with brew swet, and I wasn't gonna put up with his old stubborn ass.... he quickly changed his prick-like attitude, apologized, and moved his car. Way to go asshole, thanks for wasting your breath and my time.

After that ordeal, some pizza in little 5 points, and a few pitchers at the Righteous Room, we headed next door to the Plaza for the Stay Gold premier. While the dedicated smoked cigarettes inside, and those a little balsier lit blunts, shouts and jeers could be heard all throughout the packed theater, along with the undertones of countless brews crack-a-lackin.
The night ended with a few choice spots: Bellsouth wallrides, Mellow Mushroom ledge, and 2 up 2 down. Like the saying goes, "Nothing gold can stay..."
