Slick 7

Last Saturday we rounded up a solid crew for a day chalked full of skateboarding. Ty took a sharpie to a lot of shit on the old list, and the rest of us followed suit. We started off with some motivation from the Ta-Ha video, and made our way out into the world.
First stop.
Bummin' out on the City Hall steps.
Through the looking glass.
Ty- getting ready to haul ass
Rad.
After City Hall, we headed out to SLO High where nothing happened at all in terms of skating. BUT... Shane did find this saw, so we decided to throw it at stuff.
I got to work, and after 10 or so throws, I got one to stick.
After that nonsense, we mobbed on over to CL Smith where a bunch of tricks went down. Its cool how once you leave a spot out of consideration for a while, new tricks start to brew.

Guns, Bums, and Glory

It started out like any other day. I woke up and contemplated how and where I would skate. I was ready to fill up the tank and head to Cayucos for yet another sesh at the ramp... typical. Before the eggs were scrambled though, I got a call from my good buddy Blair. He said he and Nides were gonna pick up some ammo, grab the 12 gauge and go shooting at a friend's house. I really wanted to skate, but shooting guns in the woods seemed like too much fun to pass up. So we got a crew together and made our way out to Avila.
Hearing the guns crack, we waited for the dog to be put away.
Blair brought his twelve-gauge.
Before we headed out, we picked up a bunch of clays and a thrower.
Gearin up.
I've been wanting to shoot one of these for a very long time, but was a little disappointed to find that it was full of .22 special rounds.
Nides giving Shane a run for his money with this angle.
Nick's first time shooting, blasted the clay pigeon to powder.
Twelve-gaugers.
Pull already.
Big H with some well aimed shots.
Deeeeeeep Penetrator fool.

With our egos boosted from the hundred plus round we shot off, we thanked the guys and made our way back to town. Skateboarding was still on our minds though as we packed up and headed in the northerly direction. Templeton park was our destination, and shortly after we finished up there, we made our way back to A-town. Before home, we stopped at a friend of a friend's house on the way back. With a pack of beer, we greeted the guys and asked if it was cool to skate the ramp. The ramp used to belong to Jeff Tipay, and with a few changes, the thing is just as fun. One long piece of coping sticking out like a middle finger, and a really quick pool coping section made for a good time. We put ourselves to work and came out on top.
Johnny blasted some ollies on this less than solid section.
Nick twisted up a couple front blunts.
Blair came through again with this quick back-d.
Johnny leanin' into a back smitherines.
Blair wrappin' it up with a pivot fakie.
Just wanted to say thanks to Colin for letting us come out and shoot. We know there was a lot of people and a hell of a lot of rounds shot, but we had a real good time. So thanks again man... until next time.

The Brew Swet Life For Me

April 30th marked a milestone in the lives of two of the raddest skate dudes on the Central Coast. Joel and Ethan hosted a birthday bash at the Vet's Hall in Cayucos to mark their 30th and 40th birthdays. The deal was, dress like a pirate, and you're invited. Before the bash was underway, the ramp was littered with all the gnarliest rippers from the area. Fools were killin' it, while brews were being killed, and everyone got a piece. Shortly after, the shindig was underway, multiple kegs quickly lost weight, and the pirates partied.

Its what we like to see, not one person without a beer in their hand.
Ben and Adam showed up for the session.
After the first round was empty, Joel pointed us in the direction of the rest of the grogg.
In the process.

This dude was so hyped on the Swet, he let us take his guitar's sticker virginity.

Oar drew this up for the kiddies to play pin the eyepatch on the pirate. RAD.

Two of my favorite pirates. Lookin' the part.

Make it three.

Josh fucked Nate up with his quick thrust. (No pun intended)

Even Frank showed up, had love, and traveled to join the festivities.

Christian made the trek as well. Hadn't seen this guy in AGESSSSS.
In the flesh. Ethan and Joel.

The served some upside down cake for the kids.

Pat's little girl was there too, she's basically as cool as he is. She was reppin' the Swet all over, running around slappin' stickers on everyone's back. Which pretty much made her night.

One of her victims.
Goober and myself.
Every pirates face by the end of the night.
Not a pirate you wanna fuck with...

Thanks to everyone who came out to support our good friends. Thanks to the Vets hall for hosting the bash. And thanks to Ethan and Joel for being SO FUCKING RAD!

Russ Pope's Change Required Show

After many weeks of sitting on these shots i figured i would finally get them up.  Long time friend and SLO native Russ Pope held an exhibit at the SLO Art museum, which some of you may have attended.  Here are some shots from the event "Change Required".  I have known Russ since I was 12 years old or so, I actually owe him many thanks for everything he's done for me through out the years.  From the Scarecrow days to getting me on the Label Live tour, Russ has been an awesome friend and true inspiration, especially with the most recent of his works.  Check these and more of Russ' art at www.russpope.com

Rob and his boy Andrew showed up to drink some brews and clean up the mess.

this guy likes to knock the brew right out from your hands
 ..........then this happens.
This portion was by far my favorite.  These were some of Russ' custom shaped boards along with a ripping quarter painted right on the wall.

Thanks a million Russ.............. your shit rules!
